Cradlerock Children’s Center is a Maryland State Department of Education Accredited Center. As an MSDE Accredited center, CCC has developed education program standards, program operation and home community partnerships that are approved by the Maryland Department of Education and considered “Excellent”. By maintaining accreditation, Cradlerock is able to continuously improve the quality of services and programs offered by meeting and exceeding state, regional and/or national standards.
It is required that all daycares be licensed, however, accreditation is voluntary.
Our mission is to create a stimulating, nurturing, values-rich environment for children of varied backgrounds. We offer an engaging, play-based program that involves the whole child, encouraging social, and intellectual growth, while empowering each child to develop at his/her own rate. We treat our staff with respect: recruiting, recognizing and rewarding excellence. We strive to become a welcoming, transformative educational resource for our families and for those in the surrounding community.
Cradlerock Children’s Center provides a classroom environment that encourages exploration and autonomy, helping students to become life-long learners. We embrace the core philosophy of Swiss scholar Jean Piaget, who believed that play is critical to a child’s development and understanding of the world.
In addition, Cradlerock Children’s Center is committed to serving families of all income levels, particularly those from the Owen Brown neighborhood surrounding our center. When financially able, we offer scholarships to those of limited means and accept vouchers from the state Department of Social Services. We also offer an English Immersion program for a nominal fee. This enables children to learn English before they enter the public school system, and benefits children who would otherwise be unable to attend preschool.
