Cradlerock Children’s Center (CCC) is a non-profit child care center and preschool serving families in and around Howard County, Maryland. We are committed to excellence, offering a high-quality education and care program that nurtures and stimulates our young learners.
Cradlerock Children’s Center is expanding! Coming this fall, a Step to K classroom developmentally designed for children with birthdates that fall after the kindergarten cutoff (Sept – Dec) is opening. Our Step to K classroom, led by a certified early childhood education teacher, will provide a nurturing and structured learning environment geared toward preparing children to experience success in kindergarten and beyond.
CCC is one of the few child care centers in the county to receive accreditation from the Maryland State Department of Education, and our program has received an honorable mention for “Best Daycare Center” from Howard magazine.
Our Teaching Philosophy
Cradlerock Children’s Center provides a classroom environment that encourages exploration and autonomy, helping students to become life-long learners. We embrace the core philosophy of Swiss scholar Jean Piaget, who believed that play is critical to a child’s development and understanding of the world.
We also know that children need to feel safe and loved in order to reach out to those around them. By fostering positive and nurturing interactions, our teachers help children build a bond of trust and caring, which forms a foundation for learning throughout life.
Choosing the right teachers to construct that foundation is critical, and investing in our staff is a core part of our philosophy. We are committed to paying salaries that well exceed the industry norm. By offering higher salaries, we are able to choose and retain the most qualified candidates to care for and educate children at our center.
Finally, Cradlerock Children’s Center is committed to serving families of all income levels, particularly those from the Owen Brown neighborhood surrounding our center. When financially able, we offer scholarships to those of limited means and accept vouchers from the state Department of Social Services. We also offer an English Immersion program at a nominal fee. This enables children to learn English before they enter the public school system, and benefits children who would otherwise be unable to attend preschool.
